Understand when you are paying for precious metal and when you are paying for collector demand.
Two separate sources of value
Bullion is primarily priced for its contained metal plus a product premium. Collectible coins can trade based on rarity, grade, provenance and numismatic demand. The two prices should not be confused.
Buy the product you actually want
If you prioritize exposure to metal content, compare ordinary bullion products. If you collect designs, dates or certified grades, research collector-specific pricing and authenticate the item first.
Premiums can behave differently
Rare-coin prices can rise or fall independently of metal spot movements. A collectible premium can disappear if demand weakens, and an insured buyback estimate should never be assumed.
